Jessie & Jake had an incredibly fun and beautifully themed wedding day at Jake’s family home west of Cleveland. It was full of fun, romance, and quite a few gigantic balloons.
Balloons you say? Yup! It was an “Up!” themed wedding, built from the inspiration of the Disney movie.
Up, Up and away! π
Later in the evening we did some fun light painting – the balloons Jessie & Jake are “holding” there are not photoshopped in, they were hand drawn by Renee and I on the spot using some glowsticks. Pretty fun huh?
This creative and fun wedding was at Jake’s family home – it was great to return. I had photographed Jake’s sisters wedding here about two years prior, and it was so fun to return.
I have such a passion for storytelling – so I spent the morning capturing candid and fun images of the girls and guys getting ready separately. These images hold so much value – they tell so much of what the morning was like for these two. Photojournalistic wedding photographers love creating story-telling wedding photography like the above, they allow us to really share the little moments that make up what a wedding day actually is.
I am a huge fan of wedding shoes. Sounds weird coming from a guy, I know π But I’e gotten pretty picky over my shoe fashion over the years, and I absolutely loved Jessie’s shoes!!
Balloons were everywhere that day – and the giant ones could be a bit of fun when a sudden gust of wind would pop by! Poor Gina was nearly lifted off the ground!
The bridal party was awesome – we had so much fun creating fun wedding photography. Wedding photography is roughly ten times more fun when you add in balloons!
Their wedding ceremony took place in their beautiful and spacious backyard. Jessie, Jake and family had spent hours putting together hanging paper puff balls they hung from the trees, creating a really beautiful backdrop.
I love love love love (love) the joy in the above image set. You can absolutely see how much fun it was for these two to marry each other. I celebrated alongside them while capturing some sweet photojournalistic and candid wedding photography.
After their wedding, we set out to create some beautiful and modern wedding photography. We set out together for some awesome fields and property near their family home, and had a bit of fun using their balloons in their artistic wedding photography.
There was an awesome weeping willow tree we happened upon, and I had so much fun photographing Jessie and Jake inside of it. The warm color cast generated by the leaves creates a stunning and joyful feel.
Goodness. You have to love Jessie’s Dress!
I think the challenge of being a modern Cleveland wedding photographer is creating wedding photography that tells something of the couple and their day, rather than the same stiff and stale images many wedding photographers in cleveland often create. It’s more fun to create wedding photography that is unique.
Jessie and Jakes wedding reception was full of cute and fun handmade details. They had a fun set of corn-hole boards, and had a tent with the ceiling full of giant balloons. This, along with their cake topper and other fun details really helped pull together their “up” themed wedding.
This always makes me laugh. Above is Jake’s father (center) utilizing the “shot-ski” with some friends π
What a blast this backyard wedding reception was. It had such a nice mix of summer ambience and laugh out loud fun, you couldn’t help but have a good time being there!
I love the joy of the dance floor at a wedding reception. Too often wedding photographers in cleveland will leave the reception too early, missing great opportunities for fun wedding photography. Some of the best photojournalistic wedding photography I’ve ever captured is on the dance floor after the booze breaks out.
The light painting session during their reception shows off how much fun wedding photography can be. We pride ourselves on being creative wedding photographers in cleveland for reasons like this.
And some geology themed wedding ring photos to end off the night – just because these two are geology / rock freaks π Much love and many cheers to my friends Jessie & Jake – such a sweet joy being your wedding photographer!!
